Grape variety saga - Cinsault

Saga des cépages - Cinsault

Cinsault is a grape variety from the Rhone Valley and Languedoc-Roussillon mainly. These regions constitute an ideal terroir for this grape variety which is quite resistant to drought. A large producer, it must be established on stony and dry hillsides with good exposure.

It is recognized by its clusters of large, round berries, with very juicy flesh and bluish-black skin.

It is the essence of Mediterranean rosés, light and fruity. It is known for producing fine and elegant rosés, with aromas of Grenache, red fruits, peach, and white flowers, with a beautiful balance between liveliness and roundness. It is also found in red wines from Minervois, Corbières, etc. Often associated with Grenache and Carignan, it produces wines with supple tannins.

Cinsault is part of the grape varieties of many of our estates, notably that of Château l'Hospitalet and Château la Sauvageonne .
